Boston Fire Union Still Defending Itself…Even Though They’re Hacks.

 

Boston - Declaring that “lives must come first,” the head of the Boston firefighters union pledged yesterday that his members would voluntarily staff fire companies that are temporarily “browned out” as the city carries out a plan to cut back on overtime spending.

But the Menino administration slammed the move as a smoke screen designed to shroud the 33 firefighters collecting disability who filed for retirement this week, many in order to beat the repeal of a pension provision allowing them to retire at a higher rate if they had filled in for a higher-paid supervisor.

In announcing the volunteer coverage plan yesterday, Edward Kelly, president of Boston Firefighters Local 718, said, “We are not going to allow the Menino administration to play politics with the lives of the citizens of Boston.” – BostonHerald

 

I’ve said it before and I will say it again, one bad apple spoils the bunch. How can Ed Kelly stand there with a straight face  and say that shit when he knows that the Fire Union is filled with a bunch of criminals just scamming the system. The ‘brown out’ basically consists of closing, or temporarily staffing certain firehouses. This cut’s down on the outragous amount of overtime, thus saving the city money. Hey Edward Kelly, maybe if you didn’t have so many deadbeats taking money out of the taxpayers pocket there would be enough money to keep these stations in business.

Man Tries to Save Job by Killing Boss

 

 MADRID - Spanish police have arrested a man whom they suspect hired a contract killer to murder his boss in a desperate bid to avoid being laid off, newspaper El Pais reported on Tuesday.

The head of audiovisual services at the Barcelona International Convention Center contracted a Colombian man who shot and killed the director of the convention center on Feb 9, according to police. The director had planned to lay off the arrested man as part of a restructuring project, police said.

In fear of losing his job, the head of services, through his sister, contracted a team of six Colombians who planned and carried out the killing, El Pais reported.

You see! The world isn’t full of deadbeats and scam artists living off the taxpayers. Instead of just kicking back and collecting his monthly check from the government, this guy took a stand, no fucking way was he getting laid off while working for ‘the man’…but I’m not really sure how he thought this would solve everything. I don’t know about you but I have like 6 different managers, all of which could fire my ass if they wanted. I would have to go on a killing spree if I wanted any real type of job security.

Seattle Times - Air New Zealand is getting down to the bare essentials with a new in-flight safety video that features flight attendants wearing just body paint.

It’s aimed at making passengers pay attention to the often-overlooked airline safety videos shown at the start of each flight.

I give this idea an A, but the follow through a D. First of all, if you want  passengers to actually pay attention to the safety video, bring in hot models covered in body paint, not your average looking flight crew. The only girl even remotely attractive in this clip is the brunette who appears for all of 10 seconds. Now if you had Adriana Lima kicking things off in body paint, then maybe I’ll put down my SkyMall. Second of all, at least think of clever ways to position the models so that we can hope for a titty shot or something. I mean, I got more aroused looking at this chick selling me an outdoor speaker that looks like a fucking rock. Bottom line is that I am still popping two Valium and ignoring your crappy safety video unless I get Jessiba Alba with painted titties flopping around. Suck on that Air New Zealand.
